I had a few minutes to myself at the end of the day and walked along the man-made lake to find a quiet spot. A quiet spot in my town means engines revving, horns honking and music blaring from nearby restaurants. All sounds faded from my ears when my eyes fell upon the heron. I see them all the time, flying overhead on my way to work but I had never had a chance to see one this close, hunting for its next meal. I took a few pictures and backed out from under the cover of scrub trees. Reality came back when an engine revved nearby and the heron flew off.
